#GivingTuesdayCLE from 2018-2022
Since 2018, nonprofits and volunteers across Cleveland have celebrated a city-wide day of generosity in collaboration with the global GivingTuesday movement. This effort has been supported by countless donors and volunteers, growing and evolving each year.
#GivingTuesdayCLE FROM THEN TO NOW:
2022: All Together Now
The 2022 #GivingTuesdayCLE events are organized by seven grassroots nonprofit partners committed to mutual aid and collective impact. Led by Refresh Collective, CollectiveExpress and Food Strong, planning began in July 2022 for their inaugural events, including a Friendsgiving flag football tournament, a CommUnity Monday pre-party event, and an online donation event leading up to Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2022. While this year’s list of participating nonprofits is small, the hope is that with the success of this year’s events, the #GivingTuesdayCLE movement will grow to include more partner nonprofits year after year.
2021: Youth Compassion Tour
Working with Greater Cleveland Community Shares, the nonprofit QueenIAm led a Cleveland Youth Compassion Tour, visiting and volunteering at nonprofits throughout the city.
2020: Giving Tuesday Kids
In May and December 2020, the #GivingTuesdayCLE campaign was led by youth ambassadors Logan Williams & Lauren Turos. During the pandemic, they raised $9,000+ to support Greater Cleveland Community Shares, and on Giving Tuesday, they inspired youth and adults across Cleveland to share acts of kindness.
2019: Do good, Cleveland.
Led by a volunteer planning committee, the #DoGoodCLE campaign encouraged donors and supporters throughout Cleveland to purchase a “Do Good” hat and proceeds were divided equally between all participating nonprofits. Influencers, business owners, and civic leaders came together to ask Cleveland to “put on your good hat” and get involved. Greater Cleveland Community Shares was the fiscal sponsor for the annual event, which was celebrated with a party at Beachland Ballroom in Waterloo Arts District. The campaign video above was donated by Anthony Thomas Advertising.
2018: The Launch of #GivingTuesdayCLE
Sponsored by Good Cause Creative, the inaugural #GivingTuesdayCLE event and donor campaign were coordinated by Jasmine Villanueva, Vivid Vibes, and Lauren Welch, Laurel Cadence. The first Giving Tuesday community campaign celebrated collective generosity, and all proceeds were shared equally by the registered nonprofits. Working with Cleveland Neighborhood Progress as a fiscal sponsor, #GivingTuesdayCLE had over 50 nonprofits apply to participate, and the inaugural event was held for 200+ guests at RED SPACE in downtown Cleveland.
